About Our Parish.....

Narol, as it was known then, is a village situated 60 kilometers from Mangalore. The church is dedicated to St. Antony of Padua. Nellikar, Shirthady, Arwa, and Venoor are its neighboring parishes.

Naravi was a substation of St. Lawrence Church. Attur, dedicated to St. Antony in 1870, served as the main church.* In 1905, Jesuit priest Fr. Faustine Chorti arrived as a missionary from St. Aloysius Mangalore and lived in a humble dwelling. He worked tirelessly and preached the gospel in Naravi until his death in 1926. Fr. Antonio Ziaro, also a Jesuit, served as an assistant priest to Fr. Chorti for two years. Fr. Ghaviraghi SJ followed in their footsteps.

During this time, in 1928, the then Bishop Rev. Valerian Souza declared Naravi an independent parish church effective January 1, 1929.  Fr. Ziaro laid the foundation stone, and  Fr. Ghaviraghi continued the construction. The church was blessed and opened on May 7, 1930. Under Fr. Ghaviraghi's leadership, Jerosa Convent opened on April 11. Since then, the Sisters of Charity have served in various fields. Fr. Francis Xavier Souza became the first diocesan priest in 1934.

The church, which began as a mission station, now has 252 families with 1,310 parishioners. It boasts an educational institution that provides education from kindergarten to undergraduate levels. Additionally, it houses a renowned boarding facility with a 76-year history.
